The New York Rangers opened the season with a series split against the NY Islanders. The Blueshirts lost 4-0 in the first game Thursday and bounced back with a 5-0 win Saturday night.
There were some good and some bad takeaways for the Rangers during this two-game set. A Jekyll and Hyde performance to say the least.
New York Rangers vs New York Islanders: The Good
Bounced Back Nicely
After some lineup changes, the Rangers were able to bounce back after a devastating loss in the first game. The Rangers played a better all-around game on Saturday than they did on Thursday when they were shutout.

The last time Kevin Durant competed in a competitive basketball game was for the Warriors 18 months ago in which he tore his Achilles tendon. While players and coaches on both sides spent time downplaying any added rivalry in this season’s opener, basketball fans were salivating at an opening night that featured a healthy Durant and reloaded Warriors squad.

SMC Speech & Debate Team Wraps up Successful Fall Season

The Santa Monica College (SMC) student Speech and Debate Team has wrapped up a successful fall season, having competed in four online tournaments during the Fall 2020 semester. Due to COVID-19, the team’s participation was limited to virtual platforms where they still excelled.
Here is a quick look at the Fall 2020 season in numbers, the team’s wins and other accomplishments:
Participated in four online tournaments: The Warm Up held Oct. 3, hosted by the Pacific Southwest Collegiate Forensics Association (PSCFA); Crossman Invitational held Oct. 18, hosted by El Camino College; October Surprise, held Oct. 25 at Mt. San Antonio College; and Fall Champs on Dec. 5-6, hosted by PSCFA (Forty-two colleges and universities competed at the PSCFA Fall Champs from across the nation including CSU Northridge, UC Berkeley, and University of Utah).
