Thursday Morning COVID-19 Update
There were no COVID-19-related deaths reported Wednesday (February 17) in Catawba County, leaving the total at 272. 52 new cases of the coronavirus were reported Wednesday, raising the overall tally to 16,660. There were 52 people hospitalized.
The Caldwell County Health Department reported a COVID-19-related death Wednesday and confirmed an outbreak. The patient who passed away was between the ages of 65 and 74, was reported to have underlying health conditions, and had been hospitalized. There have been 128 coronavirus-related deaths in Caldwell
The outbreak is at Jonas Hill Hospital. In congregate settings, an outbreak of COVID-19 is defined as two or more laboratory-confirmed cases within a 28-day period. 29 new cases were confirmed in Caldwell Wednesday, lifting the total to 8,437. 23 people were hospitalized. There were no new virus-related deaths reported, leaving the tally at 263.
Eight COVID-19-related deaths were reported Thursday in Caldwell County, raising the total to 127. One patient was between the ages of 50 and 64; three were between 65 and 74; and four were over the age of 75. Six were reported to have underlying health conditions, and three were hospitalized. 31 new cases of the coronavirus were reported, increasing the total to 8,225. There were 28 people hospitalized.
