Man charged in deadly N.J. shooting that left 10-year-old wounded

A 20-year-old man was arrested in South Carolina and charged in a Burlington County shooting that killed another man and left a 10-year-old boy wounded, authorities said Friday.
Nicholas Wahl faces charges including murder, weapons offenses and aggravated assault, according to the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office. Members of a U.S. Marshals fugitive task force apprehended Wahl on Wednesday at a relative’s apartment in Greenville, South Carolina, authorities said.
Wahl was accused of fatally shooting 27-year-old Dysheem Bruton April 30 as he walked on Saint Mary Street in Burlington City, the prosecutor’s office said. He is also charged with accidentally shooting a 10-year-old boy in the foot in the same incident, authorities said.

Gunfire broke out around 5:30 p.m. on the 400 block of Saint Mary Street, according to the Burlington County Prosecutor s Office.
A victim identified only as an adult male was fatally wounded as he walked along the street, the prosecutor s office said. He was pronounced dead at an area hospital.
A 10-year-old boy in the area was struck once in the foot by an errant shot, according to the prosecutor s office.
The child was treated at a hospital and his wound is not considered life-threatening.

A shooting Friday in Burlington City left a man dead and a 10-year-old boy wounded, police said.
The man was walking in the 400 block of Saint Mary Street when he was shot around 5:30 p.m., according to the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office. The shooter fled on foot toward Route 130, authorities said.
Authorities said the man died at a local hospital. His name was being withheld.
“A 10-year-old male who was in the area was struck once in the foot by errant gunfire and is being treated at a local hospital,” Prosecutor Scott Coffina and City of Burlington Police Chief John Fine said in a statement. “The young man’s injuries are not life threatening.”

A janitor at a New York hospital who admitted last year that he tried to arrange sex at a Burlington County motel with an undercover detective he thought was a 14-year-old girl was sentenced to three years in state prison, officials said.
John Emilio, 44, of Staten Island, pleaded guilty on Dec. 23 to attempted endangering the welfare of children in exchange for the prison term, according to a statement from the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office. A judge also ordered that Emilio be placed on the New Jersey sex offender registry upon release and also be under parole supervision for life.
