SUNDERLAND A handful of new faces were nominated for local government positions at the town’s annual caucus on Saturday.
The meeting, which was rescheduled from Feb. 27 due to inclement weather, failed to nominate a candidate for a three-year term on the Selectboard. In a first for Sunderland, the caucus was held outdoors at the Town Offices.
Incumbent Peter Gagarin was nominated for a position on the Sunderland School Committee alongside newcomer Alison Booth Maio, a mother of two, who said she’s lived in town for more than a decade. Both nominations are to fill a three-year term.
In lieu of caucus, nomination papers available in Northfield

NORTHFIELD The Selectboard has opted to cancel the annual town caucus, instead requiring this year’s candidates to obtain nomination papers and signatures from registered voters to be placed on the ballot for the tentatively scheduled May 4 election.

The Town Caucus originally scheduled to be held on Monday, March 8, will not be held due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Instead, this year we will be preparing nomination papers for each of the 12 open positions on elected boards for 2021.
The following positions are open:
Moderator (one position for a one-year term)
Board of Selectmen (one position for a three-year term)
Board of Assessors (one position for a three-year term)
Dover School Committee (one position for a three-year term)
Dover-Sherborn School Committee (one position for a three-year term)
Mar. 4—Nomination papers for local elections in Rockport, Manchester and Essex are now available. In Rockport, two selectwomen will be up for reelection — Sarah Wilkinson and Ruth George. Other incumbents seeking another three term are Town Assessor Timothy Good, Planning Board member Jason Shaw, Board of Library Trustees member Lana Razdan and School Committeemen Richard Drost and Michael .
