Sam Empey won two events and Jack Gallo won another to lead the Union boys swimming team to a narrow win over Camas in an 12-team invitational meet at Kelso.
Union won the team title with 460 points. Camas was second with 453.
Empey won 200-yard freestyle in 1 minutes, 52 seconds and the 100 butterfly in 53.69 seconds. Gallo won the 500 freestyle in 4:56.12.
Skyview’s Jace Creech and Mountain View’s Justin Xue also won two events each. Creech won the 200 individual medley (2:02.57) and the 100 backstroke (54.08), while Xue finished first in the 50 freestyle (21.69) and 100 breaststroke (59.60).

Goldbergs daughter, Wendi McLendon-Covey, indicated that Pops’ absence will be addressed onscreen next fall, assuming the sitcom is renewed. “We would NEVER replace George in the role of Pops. If we get a season 9, we will address it then,” McLendon-Covey wrote.
Added series creator Adam F. Goldberg (who no longer serves as showrunner): “Fans are asking what’s planned for Pops. Even though my input and stories have not been used this season, I know the way to address this loss is to use my real experience of losing my Grandpa to honor George and my Pops. Hope I’m welcome S9!”

The Goldbergs. At the time it was unclear how many more episodes featuring Segal had been shot already but the network confirmed that this week s episode, which air just hours ago, would be his final appearance as Pops. Following the conclusion of the episode a special tribute reel to Segal aired featuring his many hilarious costumes and concluding with one of his quotes from the show: If you just believe in yourself, like I do, you can t lose.
A few more episodes remain in the eighth season of The Goldbergs but Segal s Pops will seemingly not be included in them, nor will his absence be addressed. The show hasn t yet been renewed for a potential new season but one star from the show confirmed that in the event that another renewal happened they would address the absence of Pops then, and they would never re-cast the part. TV sitcom The Goldbergs has paid tribute to late star George Segal as the final episode he filmed was aired.
The 87-year-old actor died in Santa Rosa, California, following complications from bypass surgery last month.
One of his most recognised roles over his prolific and varied career was his performance as the big-hearted grandfather Albert Pops Solomon on The Goldbergs.
He had played the role since 2013.
His final appearance on the show came in an episode titled Couple Off which aired in the US on Wednesday.
