It was Christmas in July at the Palermo Community Library’s recent annual meeting. The scene was festive with a garland of twinkling Christmas lights strung around the refreshment table and a fire blazing on the large screen TV.
Joan Robertson donated a Christmas-themed quilt to the library, which was hung in the children’s area. Local students used crayons to color preprinted drawings on fabric squares, which were pressed to set the pigments. The squares were sewn together by Robertson, and the piece was finished off with machine quilting by award-winning quilter Diane Dixon.

The Palermo Community Library is to hold its annual meeting at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 11, at its 2789 Route 3 home.
The trustees are to formally receive and hang a quilt donated by Joan Robertson.
The quilt showcases Christmas-themed crayon drawings done last November by students from the Palermo Consolidated School and several local homeschool students. The drawings were pressed into the fabric to transfer the pigments, then sewn together by Joan Robertson.
The piece was finished off with machine quilting by Diane Dixon.
The trustees will also unveil the library’s new Prusa 3-D printer.
