It won’t do much to help Laurentian University, but Sudbury MP Paul Lefebvre says he will introduce a private member’s bill banning colleges and universities from seeking creditor protection.
Laurentian, of course, is using the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act to restructure because of serious financial problems.

Last week, as part of the CCAA process, Laurentian announced it was cutting 69 programs and 110 faculty positions. More than 40 other staff positions have been cut.
