Still, you’ve probably heard the term healthy fats thrown around, but what does that really mean? “Dietary fat for so long was vilified,” Amy Goss, Ph.D., R.D, an assistant professor in nutrition sciences at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, tells SELF. One reason, she says, is that people tended to associate eating dietary fat with cardiovascular disease and, as a result, became fearful about including fat in their diet.
