Students will learn more about the University of Wyoming, UW alumni will connect with their alma mater, and members of the public will find out more about UW’s presence in their community during a “The World Needs More Cowboys” celebration Tuesday, May 18, in Wheatland.
The public is invited to the event from 5-7 p.m. at Vimbo’s Restaurant and Lounge. Free appetizers and beverages will be served.
UW President Ed Seidel will be in attendance and speak during a brief program at the celebration, highlighting the university’s efforts to boost entrepreneurism and the state’s economy, among other topics.

Iowa City, Ia (AP) The University of Iowa’s governing board has picked the University of Illinois System’s No. 2 official to be the Iowa City school’s next president, opting for an experienced academic leader to succeed a president came to the position with a business background.
The Iowa Board of Regents on Friday appointed Barbara Wilson to succeed Bruce Harreld, who is retiring after leading the campus since 2015. It selected her after interviewing four finalists in a closed session. Since 2016, Wilson has served as the executive vice president of the University of Illinois System, which includes 90,000 students and 6,000 faculty members on three campuses in Urbana-Champaign, Chicago, and Springfield.

IOWA CITY, Iowa (KWWL) - The Iowa Board of Regents announced its pick for the next president of the University of Iowa Friday; Dr. Barbara J. Wilson.
Wilson was most recently the executive vice president and vice president for academic affairs for the University of Illinois System. She is a native of Wisconsin and got three degrees from the University of Wisconsin Madison.
During an introductory press conference Friday afternoon at the Levitt Center, Wilson talked about her love of the Midwest and eagerness to lead Iowa s flagship school.

New University of Iowa president Barbara Wilson is already proving to be much more popular than her predecessor.
That’s according to feedback released by the Iowa Board of Regents following the announcement of Wilson’s hiring on Friday. Of the 320 people who submitted feedback…including faculty, staff, students and other community members…Wilson had an 80% approval rating. That’s the highest among the four finalists interviewed by the Regents.
Wendy F. Hensel, Georgia State University provost, had a 73% approval rating, while Penn State Law Dean Hari Osofsky received a 63% positive rating.
The only candidate with a negative rating from respondents was UI College of Education dean Dan Clay, who earned only a 36% approval rating.
