Beijing Seizes Upon Fauci’s Calls for Solidarity to Push COVID-19 Propaganda
Chinese state media has raved about Dr. Anthony Fauci’s recent calls for solidarity to combat the pandemic, using his comments to bolster the Beijing regime’s virus narratives.
As a top U.S. infectious disease expert and chief medical adviser to President Joe Biden, Fauci appeared with Chinese epidemiologist Zhong Nanshan in early March during an online forum hosted by the University of Edinburgh their first public event together over the issue.
In a nearly hour-long video panel discussion themed around “the future of health,” the two repeatedly highlighted the need for collaboration, a message that Chinese authorities have frequently adopted to fend off criticism of its initial coverup of the outbreak.

Ankara: Global herd immunity against COVID-19 will take two to three years, China’s top respiratory disease expert said.
“With the development and marketing of vaccines, it will take at least two to three years to achieve herd immunity worldwide,” Zhong Nanshan was quoted as saying by state-run Xinhua news agency at an online conversation hosted by the University of Edinburgh on Tuesday night.
“Last year, two months after the epidemic was basically under control, we reopened our economy and resumed classes,” said Zhong, who was exchanging views with top US infectious disease expert Anthony Fauci during the event.

The epidemiologists exchanged their views in an online conversation hosted by the University of Edinburgh on Tuesday night, Xinhua news agency reported.
The two believed that global cooperation is essential in the epidemic control.
Novel coronavirus is an enemy of all mankind, said Zhong, an academician at the Chinese Academy of Engineering and a leading expert in China’s respiratory disease research.
“If the coronavirus still spreads in some individual countries, Covid-19 cannot be said to be fully controlled worldwide. If we want to end this epidemic, we need appropriate science-based, evidence-based decisions by decision-makers in each country. Everyone should do their best. So we need global solidarity,” Zhong said.
