SAN DIEGO, May 03, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) Bionano Genomics, Inc. (Nasdaq: BNGO), announced today that the Georgia Esoteric and Molecular (GEM) Laboratory at the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) at Augusta University is now offering diagnostic services for constitutional genetic disorders through a laboratory-developed test (LDT) based on optical genome mapping (OGM) with the Saphyr® System. The LDT developed by Dr. Ravindra Kolhe and his team is designed for pediatric patients suspected to have a neurodevelopmental genetic disorder. Dr. Kolhe is developing additional OGM-based LDTs for prenatal genetic disorders and other indications.

Burlington, Ia- A Burlington man was critically injured after being hit by a truck while on a bike.
According to a report from the Iowa State Patrol, on Saturday, May 1st, at about 6:50 PM, a Ford F150 driven by 61-year-old Michael Paul Fairlie of Burlington was going southbound on South Main St. in Burlington when a cyclist failed to obey a stop sign and entered the intersection.
The truck hit the cyclist, 52-year-old Reynaldo Lopez of Burlington.
Lopez was taken to Great River Medical Center and later airlifted to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
The accident is being investigated by the Iowa State Patrol.

The names have been released of those involved in a deadly crash near Allison Wednesday night, according to KWWL. 29 year old Nicolle Berends, of Allison, died in the collision while 17 year old Breanna Norton, also of Allison, was taken to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Authorities say a van traveling eastbound on Highway 3 crossed the center line for unknown reasons and struck an SUV headed westbound.

The Iowa City Police Department and the Johnson County Medical Examiner’s Office have released the identity of the victim of Wednesday night’s suspicious death.
The victim has been identified as 31-year-old Tommy Curry of Iowa City. Based on initial information, including the preliminary autopsy result, the manner of death is listed as a homicide, with the cause of death being injuries sustained from gunshot wounds.
This matter remains under investigation by the Iowa City Police Department, the Johnson County Attorney’s Office, and the Johnson County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Just after 8pm Wednesday officers responded to the 2400 Block of Lakeside Drive for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers located Curry suffering from gunshot wounds. Curry was transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and was later pronounced deceased.
