Susan Marx joined ABA ROLI in 2018 from The Asia Foundation where she worked for ten years in various rule of law and management positions in Timor-Leste and Afghanistan. At ROLI, Ms. Marx oversaw ABA ROLI’s regional anti-human trafficking program in 14 SADC countries, working with attorneys general and prosecutors general to strengthen coordination and collaboration between countries on preventing and addressing cross-border trafficking. In 2019 she became the Project Director for the WAGE Consortium’s initiative in Eswatini “Integrating the Response to GBV, HIV, and Economic Marginalization of Swati Women” aimed at reforming restrictive laws and increasing integrated services to women victims of violence. Most recently, Ms. Marx secured a USAID award to partner with private sector partners in Eswatini to increase women’s meaningful participation in the economy. “We as an engineering community learned from that, that just having strength was not enough,” said Jonathan Stewart, professor of civil and environmental engineering at UCLA. “You had to have ductility” the ability to stretch. “The [building] code would essentially produce nonductile concrete buildings.”
A new archival project at UCLA seeks to become that conduit, using boxes and boxes of internal records obtained by the LAPD. And to further that mission, the effort was recently given a three-and-a-half million-dollar boost in the form of a grant. Kelly Lytle Hernandez and Mark Vestal are professors at UCLA. WASHINGTON – Neera Tanden has made some enemies.
The president of the left-leaning think tank Center for American Progress and longtime aide to Hillary Clinton has earned a reputation in Washington as a policy heavyweight but also as a political combatant not afraid to wield her words on Twitter, rankling both conservatives and progressives across the political spectrum.
As President Joe Biden s pick to lead the Office of Management and Budget, Tanden must convince some of her former adversaries that she s not as radioactive as Republican Sen. John Cornyn has described and that she s the right choice to helm an office critical to selling the administration s fiscal and legislative agenda.
But like in Kim Murphey’s case, reports of the condition seem especially prevalent among women.
Though the symptoms vary widely which is part of the problem many cite exhaustion, shortness of breath, coughing, muscle or joint pain, chest pain, headaches, fast or pounding heartbeats, a loss or change in taste or smell, insomnia, and problems with memory or concentration. Some report hair loss, rashes, blood clots, and organ damage in the heart, lungs or brain.
The body of knowledge around long-haulers is still forming and often fragmented. Still, some doctors say they see a clear gender disparity in patients being treated for post-covid conditions, an observation that is in line with women facing higher rates of chronic conditions overall.

Long before an army of small investors buying shares of GameStop shocked Wall Street, regulators saw the need for a clearer, real-time view of the trillions of dollars that sloshed through the markets each day.
In May 2010, a trader in London using an algorithm to manipulate a futures market helped trigger a chain reaction that wiped 9% off the Dow Jones industrial average in minutes. The market quickly recovered. But that flash crash underscored regulators urgent need for a tool that would allow them to pinpoint who was buying and selling what securities down to the millisecond, equipping them to monitor a business already transformed by the explosion of computerized trading.
