Emily s perfect puppets promote Cockermouth

These hand-crafted puppets have been created by talented young artist Emily Bailey. Visitors will spot Stephen Kidd at the Moon & Sixpence coffee shop, Manon Plouffe at Wild Zucchinis cafe and bistro, Holly Baker at the Goodness and Grain refill shop, Karen Cottier of Percy House gallery and Bryoni Meighan of the Little Lotus Yoga company, as well as Emily herself. They will feature in the window of Strolling4Shoes through the half-term holidays, before taking up residence in the individual businesses. There’s a competition for young visitors – those who can find the subjects of the puppets will be entered into a prize draw to win a bag full of goodies. Entry forms can be picked up from the shoe shop.

Ian Convery

Ian Convery is Professor of Environment & Society at the University of Cumbria, where he leads on the Back on our Map (BOOM) multi-species reintroduction project. He is also Director of the Lifescape Project conservation NGO. Ian has spent the last 25 years working on understanding societal interactions with, connections to, and perceptions of, the ‘natural world’. His current interests are focused on public engagement with species reintroductions and rewilding, and he is the PI on the HLF funded ‘Back on our Map’ (BOOM) multi-species reintroduction project in South Cumbria. He established and co-chairs the IUCN CEM Rewilding Thematic Group and has been a member of the IUCN World Commission for Protected Areas since 2016. Ian is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and is a Director of the Lifescapes Project conservation charity, which owns and manages the Natural Capital Laboratory in collaboration with AECOM. Our Planet filmmaker to visit University of Cumbria

Award-winning filmmakers and photographers are to visit the University of Cumbria virtually.
