Advertisement Australian researchers say they have identified a way to tell straight away whether someone presenting to a hospital with COVID-19 will develop severe symptoms of the disease. The finding has the potential to help doctors get ahead of the virus in patients who are at serious risk from the disease, giving them treatments to head off the worst of the symptoms. The researchers say the biomarker is present from day 0 and is a direct indicator of whether a patient will end up in the ICU with severe symptoms.
