Opinion: Addressing racism is a white responsibility

In the school and society class, I teach at The University of Colorado Boulder, I center Black, Indigenous, Latinx and Asian American counternarratives that animate the history of institutionalized oppression in schools which foregrounds the erasure in dominant narratives of schooling. I always hear similar questions from my students, such as, “Why have I never heard about this erasure until just now? Why is this being hidden from us? Wait, didn’t racism end after the civil rights movement?”

Rosabella is the daughter of George and Mona Daraoui of Rochester, New Hampshire. She is the younger sister of Karen, 21, and Jennifer, 19, both of whom are graduates of St. Thomas Aquinas High School. She is also the proud older sister of Charbel, 10. Rosabella attended middle school at St. Elizabeth Seton School and is a parishioner of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Parish in Rochester.

While at St. Thomas Aquinas High School, she earned the Yale Book Award and the English Department Award (junior year), the Math Department Award (sophomore year), the French Department Award and Le Grand Concours Bronze Award (freshman year), and Le Grand Concours Honorable Mention (sophomore, junior, and senior years).

Gloria Tibbetts to lead BLM’s Color Country District
CEDAR CITY, Utah The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Utah has selected Gloria Tibbetts a seasoned planning and public policy professional with a long history of working in western states and communities to serve as the district manager for the Color Country District, based in Cedar City.
Tibbetts recently served as the planning and environmental coordinator for the district. Before that she served as an associate district manager in Colorado, as well as a field manager, assistant field manager and as a national project manager.
