On Earth, we often look toward the sky longing to know what resides in the rest of the universe. Meanwhile, 250 miles above our planet, the International Space Station is looking back.
Above us, multiple Earth-observing instruments are mounted on the exterior of several of the station s modules, including a limb full of cameras, boxes, and tools that hangs off the edge of the station s Japanese Experiment Module (JEM). Earth-observing CubeSats regularly deploy from the station s airlock. Astronauts take photos of the planet from the orbiting lab s windows. This outpost even conducts Earth science experiments. All of this work provides insight into the climate of our home and how we might prepare for coming changes.

DENVER – University of Colorado President Mark Kennedy has announced he would be stepping down from his position.The Monday announcement comes nearly two weeks after University of Colorado Boulder faculty and students voted to censure Kennedy for his actions and comments surrounding diversity.
The CU Board of Regents switched from a Republican to a Democratic majority for the first time in nearly 40 years after its November election.
Kennedy was president of the University of North Dakota prior to accepting the job in Denver.

“The Board of Regents has a new makeup this year, which has led to changes in its focus and philosophy,” Kennedy said in a statement.

As readers know, I have long urged, following the science, that Covid is airborne, and that its main mode of transmission is via aerosols. (I was initially persuaded by an epidemiological study, now consigned to link rot, that showed a seat diagram on a Chinese bus with the index case and how many were infected. It seemed clear that neither fomites nor hacked up droplets could be the cause, since the seats were widely separated. Many more such studies followed. No such studies followed for fomites or droplets.) On April 30 after enormous efforts from aerosol scientists WHO changed its guidance to reflect that Covid is airborne. On May 7, CDC followed. So, after more than a year, we have finally agreed Covid’s mode of transmission. It is to be hoped that science-based mitigation measures especially ventilation follow.
