Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the number one killer of deaths globally, and in APAC, CVD prevalence is rising in the region home to 60% of people in the world.

About 35% of the population in places like New Zealand, Australia and Singapore have CVD, in other areas like Thailand and Philippines, it’s about 20%,” said Stephen O Hara, chief executive at OptiBiotix Health.
The ratings come after a year in which nursing students were called upon to disrupt their studies and carry out paid work to help the NHS tackle Covid-19, and some nursing academics also returned to practice.
The pandemic has also meant normal clinical placements have not always been possible for student nurses, while academic lessons have had to be delivered in a different way to account for social distancing and lockdowns.
For King’s College, it is the third year in a row that its nursing faculty – named the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery and Palliative Care – has been rated second in the world.

Southampton, which is ranked seventh by QS amongst UK universities listed in this subject area, not only improved its ranking for Statistics & Operational Research this year but also its ‘h-index’ score. This measures the productivity and impact of work published by scientists and scholars in the subject through researchers from Mathematical Sciences, the Department of Social Statistics and Demography (part of the School of Economic, Social and Political Sciences), and the Centre for Operational Research, Management Sciences and Information Systems (CORMSIS).
