Lightfoot replaces chief of staff, names new chief operating officer
Just past the halfway point of her term, the mayor has been facing turnover across her administration.
WTTW News
The churn continues in Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s administration, as her office announced that Chief of Staff Maurice Classen would exit after roughly two years since the mayor’s inauguration.
Replacing Classen in the role is Sybil Madison, who was previously deputy mayor for Education and Human Services.
The move comes as Lightfoot works to fill a number of vacancies across her administration.
Lightfoot also announced her new chief operating officer: Paul Goodrich, who will oversee “infrastructure, transportation, regulatory and municipal administrative services” in the city as well as “various COVID relief funding sources,” the mayor’s office said in a press release.

HOWLAND Howland Community Church’s senior minister, the Rev. Erica Brown, has her work featured in “The Christian Century” magazine.
Brown, of Warren, wrote a major book review, which was published in the March 24 issue.
“The Christian Century” is a national journal founded in 1912 for clergy, churches and theological dialogue in predominately mainline denominations.
Brown reviewed the book, “The Black Church: This Is Our Story, This Is Our Song,” written by Dr. Henry Louis Gates Jr.
The book was made into a three- part documentary, which aired on PBS last month. The documentary also has a northeast Ohio connection. It was produced and directed by Stacey L. Holman, who grew up in Shaker Heights.
