HCA Healthcare will be tapping Google’s data science expertise to develop new analytics capabilities around patient care and administrative workflows, the major health system announced this morning.
As part of a new multiyear strategic partnership, HCA will be using Google Cloud’s healthcare data products such as the Google Cloud Healthcare API and BigQuery to support custom-built analytics tools for use in various settings, the companies said.

Four teens were shot after an argument broke out inside an apartment in Englewood on the South Side early Wednesday.
The four ages 16, 17, 17 and 19 were in a second-floor apartment with several other people in the 7200 block of South Princeton Avenue when someone got into an argument and opened fire about 1:05 a.m., Chicago police said. The 16-year-old boy was struck in the head and rushed to the University of Chicago Medical Center. where police initially said he was pronounced dead. But it was later reported that he had been resuscitated and was in critical condition.

Twelve people were shot, two fatally, including two 17-year-old boys who were shot, one fatally, in Tri-Taylor on the Near West Side.
They were on the sidewalk about 9:10 p.m. in the 500 block of South Oakley Boulevard, when someone in a silver-colored BMW opened fire, Chicago police said. One boy was shot in the chest and taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His identity has not been released. The other was struck in the shoulder and taken to the same hospital in fair condition. A 56-year-old man was shot to death in West Garfield Park. Officers found the man unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the neck about 1:30 a.m. in the 4500 block of West Maypole Avenue, Chicago police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
