Bandwidth names former Red Hat exec as general counsel

RALEIGH – Brandon Asbill, a longtime veteran at Red Hat, is moving to nearby Bandwidth to become the communications services provider as its general counsel. Bandwidth (Nasdaq: BAND) on Wednesday named Asbill to succeed Chris Matton whose departure was announced recently. Asbill joins Bandwidth on Jan. 18. Asbill worked at Red Hat for 12 years, his last position being vice president and assistant general counsel. He was actively involved in Red Hat’s $34 billion acquiistion by IBM in 2019 and other earlier acquisitions made by the Raleigh-based firm. “Brandon’s experience scaling a global organization will be invaluable to our team as we enter our next chapter as an international company,” said David Morken, Bandwidth founder and CEO, in a statement. “When Brandon joined Red Hat, the company had approximately 1,100 employees and $280 milion in revenue.  During his tenure, they expanded to almost 12,000 employees and $3 billion in revenue, with a presence in more
