고양이 신부전증 치료약을 개발하는 일본 도쿄대 연구팀에 이틀간 약 3000만엔(약 3억원)에 달하는 기부금이 모여 화제가 되고 있다.
16일(현지시간) 아사히 신문에 따르면 지난 12일부터 14일 오전 9시까지 이틀 간 도쿄대 미야자키 토오루 교수 연구팀에 2900건 가량의 기부 신청이 접수되면서 도쿄대 기금으로 3000만 엔에 달하는 돈이 모였다. 이후에도 해당 연구에 대한 기부 신청이 쇄도해 16일 도쿄대 기금 관련 홈페이지가 마비되기도 했다.
일년 도쿄대에 1만건 정도의 기부 신청이 접수됐던 만큼 도쿄대 관계자는 이번 기부 행렬을 “사상 초유의 사건”이라고 언론에 밝혔다.
