On Martin Luther King Jr. Day over 100 University of the Cumberlands students participated in the campus-wide day of service. Students helped with the Corbin Backpack Program, a clean-up at Cumberland Falls, helped paint at the old Lane Theater, sorted recycling and picked up trash at Cedaridge Ministries, and helped out at the God’s Pantry food bank warehouse and at the First Baptist Church of Williamsburg food pantry.

University of the Cumberlands honored the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a campus-wide day of service and volunteer work on Monday, January 18. COVID-19 safety precautions somewhat affected this year’s service day, yet Cumberlands students still came together to accomplish a number of projects while respecting CDC guidelines.

PIERRE – Pitcher Jared Shelton has been added to the 2021 Pierre Trappers roster. Shelton is a sophomore at the University of the Cumberlands in Kentucky. Last season, the righthander pitched at Southwest Tennessee Community College and was 0-1 in four appearances with a 5.40 ERA. He struck out five in five innings. Shelton was a high school standout in Collierville, Tennessee, a suburb of Memphis.

The Board of Directors of Southwest Care Center in Santa Fe, New Mexico, announced that Michael Adams, MBA, CMPE has been named Chief Executive Officer of the organization effective January 18, 2021. Mr. Adams holds a Bachelor ofScience in Business and Leadership and a Master of Business Administration from Marylhurst University, Oregon, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Leadership with a Business concentration from the University of the Cumberlands. Mr. Adams is a Certified Medical Practice Executive via the Medical Group Management Association and holds certificates in Green Belt Lean Six Sigma from Washington State University and Conflict Resolution and Mediation from Marylhurst University. Mr. Adams comes to Southwest Care Center with more than eighteen years of progressively responsible executive and operations leadership in Federally Qualified Health Centers and national healthcare systems.
