Manny Villar
I received a very uplifting message from my Facebook page last week. It was from Rudy Alquero who recalled that I was the contractor of his family’s house at BF Resort Village in 1977-78. He recalled: “Manny Villar, I could not forget your generosity…You noticed that the house has no maid’s room. I replied that it’s not in my budget. You responded, ‘Did you hear me say that I am gonna charge you for it?’ Yes, you built it for free.” In the same thread, a gentleman by the name of Arthur Yosuico responded to the post by writing that he was the one who audited my first loan from the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) Las Pinas Branch.

The Center for Women’s and Gender Studies’ “Guidelines on Affirming Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming (TGNC) Students’ Names, Pronouns, and Titles” were issued through a memorandum signed by UPD Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Ma. Theresa Payongayong on Monday, March 15.
The term TGNC refers to people whose gender identity does not match their sex assigned at birth (e.g. men who were assigned female at birth) and those whose gender expression does not match their gender identity (e.g. masculine women), respectively, the UPD explained.
It further pointed out that TGNC people often live by a name (or “lived name”) that affirms their gender identity and/or expression, and this is usually different from their legal name.

+ March 16, 2021 It is still over a year before the May 2022 local and presidential elections. But it seems that some politicians are now floating their names and their desire to seek elected positions on social media. Well, the earlier, the better. While others are just testing the political waters to assess voter acceptability and maybe their chances of winning.
Like it or not, social media and politics have become inseparable. That is because so much of our political discourse happens through the social media. Why? Because social media has the ability to break news in real time and has transformed the way we absorb information.
