A student from the University of the Philippines was one of the recipients of the Editor’s Choice category in the 2020 Hammond House International Literary Prize.
Christian Andrei Nuez Laplap’s short story “The Oddity That is Them” was recognized by the University Centre Grimsby in the United Kingdom.
His work will be published in the literary prize’s annual anthology of short stories and will be celebrated at its Annual Literary Festival in February 2021.
Now in its fifth year, the annual writing tilt has attracted entries from 27 different countries.
The 2020 edition’s theme was “Survival.”
Winners will receive cash prizes and will be awarded via a televised awards ceremony. Meanwhile, shortlisted entries will also secure a worldwide publication.

MANILA – The Lumad students who were taken by the police yesterday from the retreat house in University of San Carlos-Talamban campus in Cebu City have yet to be located, a lawyer said on Tuesday, Feb. 16, in an online program of the AlterMidya Network.
