HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) â University of Southern Miss freshman right-handed pitcher Ben Ethridge earned the Conference USA Pitcher of the Week, Monday afternoon, in an announcement made by the league office.
Ethridge registered his first complete-game shutout, allowing three hits over seven innings in a 3-0 Saturday afternoon victory over WKU.
He allowed just four base runners in the contest (three via singles and one hit by pitch) and only two runners got as far as second base.

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (WDAM) - The University of Southern Mississippi’s hitting woes continued Friday night at Jim Case Stadium, as the Golden Eagles fell 6-0 to host Jacksonville State University.
USM suffered its first shutout since May 11, 2019, when the Golden Eagles lost at 4-0 at Rice University, and failed to score a run for just the third time over the past four springs.
Southern Miss to play at Ohio State in 2024

The Southern Miss Golden Eagles will play at the Ohio State Buckeyes in 2024, FBSchedules.com has learned.
A copy of the football game contract with Ohio State University was obtained from the University of Southern Miss via a state public records request.
Southern Miss will travel to take on Ohio State at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio, on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024. The Golden Eagles will receive a $1.9 million guarantee from the Buckeyes for playing the game, according to the copy of the contract.
The 2024 Southern Miss-Ohio State contest will mark the first-ever meeting between the two schools on the gridiron.
