€400m investment announced for Limerick s Moyross area

A €400m investment to include a 150-bed hospital, as well as over 200 housing units has been announced by Limerick City and County Council.
The hospital is to be developed on a major portion of land adjacent to the Moyross estate located on a stretch of roadway given the green light only yesterday by Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan.
The hospital, which will have 150 beds, 40-day care beds, as well as a medical training and research centre, is being provided by the University of Pittsburgh Medical Centre or UPMC group.

HARRISBURG (AP) Pennsylvania’s larger-than-life lieutenant governor, the 6-foot-8, bald, and tattooed John Fetterman, will run for U.S. Senate, making the announcement Monday after kicking off an exploratory fundraising campaign last month that raised over $1 million.
It will be the second bid for U.S. Senate by the plainspoken 51-year-old Democrat. He may ultimately see competition from a member of Congress for his party’s nomination in what could become the nation’s most competitive Senate race in 2022.

“One of my missions right now is I always want to leave people better than I found them,” said two-time living organ donor Teresa Kieffer.
Right now, tens of thousands of people are waiting for a life-changing phone call saying they’ve received an organ donation.
An average of 17 people die every day waiting for that call.
Kidneys and livers are the two most needed organs, and while the majority come from deceased donors, there is another way to help by becoming a living donor.
