Pamela Padilla said she got her interest in nature from her naturalist father, and from her artistic mother, her creativity and work ethic.

The 5-foot-11 defensive back from Basha High School in Chandler, Arizona made sure to familiarize himself with his new surroundings as he never had the opportunity to do so because of the coronavirus pandemic last year. Barney and the majority of the incoming freshmen arrived last week at UNM for what they believe will be a special season.

Two Cabinet members in New Mexico step down

SANTA FE - Two key members of Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham s Cabinet are stepping down. Health Secretary Dr. Tracie Collins, who has served in the governor s administration for eight months, and John Salazar, who has served as Cabinet secretary of the New Mexico Department of Information Technology for just over a year, are both leaving at the end of July. Collins is returning to academic life, and Salazar is resigning to help care for his family. The two resignations come less than three months after another Cabinet secretary, Bill McCamley, stepped down from the Department of Workforce Solutions, citing safety and security concerns.
