KARACHI: The Federal Higher Education Commission (FHEC) has extended the implementation period of HEC Undergraduate Policy 2020 (Associate Degree Programme) and PhD policy for one year.
Deputy Director Coordination Samina Durrani has issued the notification in this regard and extended it till the fall of 2022 as per the notification. However, the universities which intend to implement HEC undergraduate policy and PhD policy or have adopted this policy should continue it.
It may be recalled that the Higher Education Commission had in August 2020 approved the Undergraduate Policy 2020 and the PhD. Policy under which Associate Degree Programme/four-year degree programme by abolishing BA, B.Com, and B.Sc from universities and affiliated colleges. It was to be introduced and was to take effect in January 2021, but due to the concerns of the majority of the vice-chancellors, it has now been extended for one year. ATC to announce verdict in Intezar murder case on 30th

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) has reserved its verdict in a teenager’s murder case after a three-year-long trial against policemen. The ATC-VII is set to announce the decision on July 30, as the prosecution and the defence have completed their arguments.
Intezar Ahmed, 19, was allegedly murdered by policemen in the upmarket DHA neighbourhood on January 13, 2018. According to his father Ishtiaq Ahmed, his son had left the house to eat out with his friends but was later brutally murdered. He claimed that his son’s murder was pre-planned.
Eight policemen belonging to the Anti-Car Lifting Cell Tariq Rahim, Tariq Mehmood, Azhar Ahsan, Shahid, Fawad Khan, Daniyal, Bilal Rasheed and Ghulam Abbas went to trial on a charge of murder.
PhD thesis defended

PESHAWAR: Abdul Rasheed defended his thesis and thus completed his PhD from the Department of Islamic Studies, University of Peshawar.
His title of research was: “Consumers’ Rights and Their Protection: A Comparative Study of Sharia Injunctions and Pakistani Laws.” The defence was attended by Prof Dr Mohammad Alam, the department chairman.
