No Update on Ams, But WHL Green Lights Central Division Play

The last we heard, the Tri City Americans were eyeing a 24 game schedule, against only US Division teams, with hopefully a February beginning but no date set. No other official information has been released.
Part of that rationale is the border largely remaining closed between the US and Canada, with a few exceptions, due to COVID.
That would mean the Tri City Americans would only face Portland, Everett, Seattle and Spokane.
It always strikes me as odd that the annual Princeton Review college rankings guide comes out in the year prior to the date listed in its title. But in this case, it makes me feel a bit less guilty about this super-delayed post about The Best 386 Colleges: 2021 Edition. Released in August, 2020, the guide appeared during a strange period in our history. College looks a bit different during the 2020-2021 academic year, with some students staying put at home and doing their coursework online. Tours are largely virtual and some students may even be putting their studies on hold until the pandemic abates.

Cold War Exiles and the CIA: Plotting to Free Russia, published by Oxford University Press last year, Benjamin Tromly, a professor of history at University of Puget Sound, explores the relationship between America’s post-war spy agencies and anti-communist Russian and Soviet émigrés dedicated to regime change in the USSR.
His work contains extensive evidence of the machinations of the fascists with which the US government was working and the willingness of former socialists to work alongside the far-right to promote the anti-Soviet cause. Yet the book’s considerable strength is also at times a weakness. Tromly traces in detail the twists and turns in the reactionary, backstabbing, at times buffoonish, politically tragic, and frequently ineffective efforts of émigrés jockeying for money and political influence. There will be a local ceremony honoring the young women on Monday, February 8, 2021 at 6:30 p.m. at the Creighton Scouting Center located at 4802 So. 19th Street in Tacoma, Washington. February 8 also marks the 111th anniversary of the founding of the Boy Scouts of America.
Mississippi award honors book on Jackson State shooting Follow Us

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The Mississippi Historical Society is giving its annual award for the best state history book to an author who wrote about the shooting deaths of two Black man 50 years ago at Jackson State University.
Nancy Bristow will receive the award for her book “Steeped in the Blood of Racism: Black Power, Law and Order, and the 1970 Shootings at Jackson State College,” about the deaths of James Earl Green and Phillip Gibbs.
Police opened fire on students in May 1970 on the campus, which had been the scene of civil rights and Vietnam War protests. Green and Gibbs were killed in the gunfire.
