Since taking over, she has planted new varieties of fruit trees, brought the farm into the vegetable business and opened a farm store. This year, however, something happened on her farm that Vaughan had never seen before: She assembled an all-woman pruning crew. Vaughan, 35, has been farming since her college years, but she’s never worked on a crew that’s all women. “Most of the times you’re the only woman on the crew,” she said. The crew was formed after her assistant grower, Natalie Goodman, suggested bringing in some friends she knew from rock climbing for the pruning work.

Stuart Beckley and Alan Wolf finalists for South Hadley town administrator Updated Apr 21, 2021; SOUTH HADLEY The finalists to be the next town administrator here are Ware Town Manager Stuart Beckley and Northampton Mayor David Narkewicz’s chief of staff, Alan Wolf. Of 20 that applied for the South Hadley town administrator position, four finalists were selected; two subsequently removed themselves from consideration. South Hadley Town Administrator Michael Sullivan will retire in June. During Tuesday’s meeting, Selectboard member Sarah Etelman asked the consultant hired to oversee the search process why one of the finalists did not possess any actual experience in the role of a town administrator, as the board had said they wanted in the pool of finalists.
