Free plant diagnostic services at July 8 MU field day

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Farmers can bring samples of damaged soybean, corn and wheat crops for free diagnosis at the University of Missouri Extension Pest Management Field Day on July 8.
MU Plant Diagnostic Clinic director Peng Tian and other MU scientists will check plants on-site for damage by diseases, herbicides, insects and weeds, says MU Extension weed specialist Kevin Bradley.
The annual field day is held at the MU Bradford Research Center near Columbia. Registration starts by 7:45 a.m. Weather permitting, wagon tours of research plots showcasing herbicide treatments and weed management in corn and soybean begin at 8:30 a.m.

Healthiest Communities: How They Were Ranked U.S. News Staff
The Healthiest Communities rankings from U.S. News & World Report show how nearly 3,000 U.S. counties and county equivalents perform in 84 metrics across 10 health and health-related categories.
The broad framework of categories and subcategories is based on factors key to evaluating community health that were identified by the National Committee on Vital and Health Statistics – a policy advisory board to the head of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services – as part of its Measurement Framework for Community Health and Well-Being. U.S. News adapted the NCVHS model in consultation with leading population health experts, resulting most notably in the inclusion of an equity category.
The Howell County Health Department reports an additional 18 cases of COVID-19 were identified in Howell county over the course of Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This brings the to-date total number of cases to 3,491. Of the new cases; 12 reside in West Plains, two live in Willow Springs, two live in Mountain View and two live in Pomona. There have been 18,546 tests conducted to-date in Howell County.
