MARSHALL, MI (WKZO AM/FM) Authorities say one of the victims injured when a house exploded in Marshall last month has died.
Marshall Police Chief Josh Lankerd says 38-year-old Dustin Boggess was one of eight people who were in the house on Clinton St. when a natural gas explosion and fire destroyed the home. Boggess passed away on Friday and was one of two people taken to the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor for special treatment.
Investigators said the house was in the process of being renovated when the explosion happened in the early morning hours on Monday, April 12. They still aren’t sure what triggered the gas leak.
MARSHALL EXPLOSION: Two people remain patients in the hospital after one man died last week from injuries he sustained in an explosion and fire in Marshall on April 12. Marshall Fire Chief Martin Erskine said Monday that a woman, 27, is a patient at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor and a girl, 2, is a patient at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. Officials said Friday that Dustin Boggess, 38, had died that morning at U of M hospital from injuries he sustained in the explosion and fire at a home at 532 Clinton St. Eight people were in the house. Five were treated and have been released from hospitals. Fire investigators have said the house was being renovated and the explosion was caused by a natural gas leak.

A sad update to pass along nearly one month after a home in Marshall, Michigan exploded leaving 8 seriously injured. A release from the Marshall Fire Department Chief Martin Erskine confirms the 38-year-old male who had been hospitalized for his injuries at the University of Michigan Hospital succumbed to his injuries and died on Friday (5-7-2021).

Family members of the 38-year-old identify him as Dustin Boggess. They say Dustin was a hero even before sacrificing himself to run back into the Marshall home on April 12, to save the 2-year-old female victim.

MARSHALL, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – One of eight persons who were injured April 12 in a Marshall house explosion has died from his injuries.
The Battle Creek Enquirer reports 38-year-old Dustin Boggess passed away Friday morning at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor.
The blast which fire investigators think was caused by a natural gas leak took place at 532 Clinton Street.
The house was undergoing a renovation at the time.
The home was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived but they were able to help evacuate all eight people who were inside the home at the time.
