Third Judicial District elects new leadership
Minnesota’s Third Judicial District has 24 judges, one family court referee and 120 staff who handled more than 55,000 cases in 2020 in Dodge, Fillmore, Freeborn, Houston, Mower, Olmsted, Rice, Steele, Wabasha, Waseca and Winona counties.

Judge Joseph A. Bueltel
District Court Judge Joseph Bueltel has been elected as the new chief judge of the state s Third Judicial District.
The William Mitchell College of Law graduate was appointed to serve as a judge in the district in April 2002. His term as chief begins on July 1. He is currently the assistant chief judge.
