The number 20 Winona State softball team used some late game heroics to defeat University of Minnesota Duluth 8-3 in game one of their April 25 doubleheader. That magic couldn’t be replicated in game two however, as the Bulldogs would snap WSU’s season-high, 11-game winning streak with a 4-2 win.
The Warriors move to 28-7 (17-5 conference) after the split while Duluth moves to 25-11 (15-7 conference).
In game one, the story of the first six innings of game one was missed opportunities for the Warriors, as they managed to score just one run while leaving 11 runners on base. Katie Kolb scored the only run of the first six innings for the Warriors on an RBI double by Rylee Stout.
