For about 300 miles, any time a mush­er want­ed to pass a com­pet­i­tor, he or she would have to call trail, prompt­ing the mush­er in the lead to pull over so the oth­er could go by.

(KEYC) National Signing Day is here and although it looks a little different, area schools did their best to honor those student-athletes continuing to play at the next level. At Mankato East High School, star football player Eli Olson signed his National Letter of Intent to play at the University of Minnesota Duluth. ”I’m just excited to know I get to play four or five more years. UMD is a great program, great culture, great coaches. It’s going to be a great place to go up to, keep working, get better every day and see where it takes me.”

Mining history project shares oral histories with 7 libraries, cultural centers in Duluth, Iron Range Between 2014-19, the Erie Mining Company History Project collected five days worth of interviews, which will be preserved at locations throughout St. Louis County. 5:00 am, Feb. 1, 2021 × Ron Hein holds a copy of “Taconite, New Life for Minnesota s Iron Range: The History of Erie Mining Company.” Hein is one of the main authors and organizers of the book and related school curriculum project.
