Local college nursing students to help distribute COVID-19 vaccines

The Central Texas College Department of Health Sciences announced its nursing students will join forces with students from other area nursing programs to help staff local COVID-19 vaccination teams. CTC nursing students will start assisting the Texas Emergency Management System’s efforts in administering the COVID-19 vaccine from Feb. 2 through April 27 at the Killeen vaccination site — the Rosa Hereford Killeen Community Center, 2201 E. Veterans Memorial Blvd. Students will contribute in all three main phases of the operations — patient intake, vaccine administration and patient observation. CTC along with nursing students from Temple College, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and Texas A&M University-Central Texas are joining together upon the request of David Shaw, a district coordinator for the Texas Division Emergency Management in Killeen, according to a CTC news release.

Posted in: On Nov. 22, 2020, Mary Beth Musick, 90, of Sugar Land, went to be with her Lord. She was the middle child of five, born in Lissie Jan. 29, 1930, to Victor and Mildred Segelquist. Mary graduated from Alvin High School and attended University of Mary Hardin Baylor in Belton. She and her first husband farmed rice in the Eagle Lake area while raising their two children. In Eagle Lake, she taught Sunday school at First Presbyterian Church and owned and managed a children’s boutique named Buttons and Bows. After her divorce, she married Neil Jenkins and moved to Texas City, where she managed a fabric store and was an active member of First Presbyterian Church.
