UPDATE 5/11/2021: Tony Covington, State’s Attorney for Charles County, announced that on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, James Anthony Christian, 46 of Bryans Road, entered a guilty plea to Motor Vehicle Manslaughter and 4 counts of Second-Degree Assault.
On October 14, 2018, troopers from the Maryland State Police responded to Maryland Route 6, west of Burch Road in Port Tobacco for the report of a two-vehicle collision. Upon arrival, troopers observed a Maroon 2015 Nissan Rogue with severe front-end damage on the westbound shoulder of Route 6 and a Black 2014 Chevrolet Cruze with severe rear end damage in a private driveway. Deputies from the Charles County Sheriff’s Office and members of the Waldorf Fire and Rescue Squad were already on scene.
Shortly after 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, troopers from the La Plata Barrack were dispatched to a traffic crash reported on Rt. 6 in the area of Rogers Mill Place, La Plata, Md. Upon arrival, troopers found two vehicles were involved. Fire and emergency medical services personnel also responded to the scene.

UPDATE 5/5/2021 @ 10:15 p.m.: Maryland State Police are continuing an investigation into a traffic crash in Charles County that killed two people.
The first deceased is identified as Cynthia H. Froehlich, 64, of White Plains, Md. She was the driver and only occupant of a 2016 Toyota Camry.
The second deceased is identified as Courtney D. Woodward, 31, of California, Md. She was the driver and only occupant of a 2020 Hyundai Accent.

A 7-year-old girl and her father are dead while three others were injured Saturday after a drowning incident at a pool party in Charles County, Maryland, police said.
Authorities were responding to a call just before 6 p.m. at a residence in the 1200 block of Jefferson Lane in Waldorf when they spotted and attempted to rescue three drowning victims at the bottom of a pool, the Charles County Sheriff s Office said in a statement.
On May 1, 2021 at 5:58 p.m., Charles County Emergency Services (911) received calls regarding multiple drowning victims in a pool at a residence in the 1200 block of Jefferson Lane in Waldorf.
