Jones named MHPD assistant chief

He will succeed former assistant chief Eddie Griffin, who was named chief of police on April 7. Jones has been with the Mountain Home Police Department for 23 years. ULM prof gets patent for breast cancer research

The University of Louisiana Monroe has announced a U.S. Patent has been awarded based on research led by a ULM College of Pharmacy professor.  Khalid El Sayed, Ph.D., a professor of medicinal and natural products chemistry in the School of Basic Pharmaceutical and Toxicological Sciences, College of Pharmacy, piloted the research into a process to isolate oleocanthal from olive oil for use in breast cancer treatment and relapse prevention.  The patent was awarded to the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors. El Sayed, Abu Bakar Siddique, a postdoctoral fellow at ULM, and Hassan Y. Ebrahim of Cairo, Egypt, were listed as the inventors. 

Brooke Foy, professor who leads art initiatives, is Champion of Service

Foy teaches art workshops, spearheads public art projects and volunteers with various festivals and events.
