Mountain Home Police officer Chester “Bubba” Jones has been named the department’s new assistant chief, the City of Mountain Home announced Tuesday afternoon. He will succeed former assistant chief Eddie Griffin, who was named chief of police on April 7.
Jones has been with the Mountain Home Police Department for 23 years.

The University of Louisiana Monroe has announced a U.S. Patent has been awarded based on research led by a ULM College of Pharmacy professor.
Khalid El Sayed, Ph.D., a professor of medicinal and natural products chemistry in the School of Basic Pharmaceutical and Toxicological Sciences, College of Pharmacy, piloted the research into a process to isolate oleocanthal from olive oil for use in breast cancer treatment and relapse prevention.
The patent was awarded to the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors. El Sayed, Abu Bakar Siddique, a postdoctoral fellow at ULM, and Hassan Y. Ebrahim of Cairo, Egypt, were listed as the inventors.
Foy teaches art workshops, spearheads public art projects and volunteers with various festivals and events.
The annual Champions of Service Award recognizes outstanding volunteers from seven geographic regions across the state, plus outstanding AmeriCorps, Senior Corps and Corporate volunteer programs.
“Nowhere else is our state’s character and resilience of spirit more evident that through the volunteers we have here in Louisiana,” said Nungesser. “The Champions of Service Awards are just one way we can recognize the impact our volunteers have on their communities. It is a chance to celebrate our volunteers and thank them for lending their time to make a difference for their fellow Louisianans.
