A Houston doctor spoke to NPR about the availability of COVID-19 vaccines for healthcare workers.
His hospital will receive the vaccination next week, but more than half of the nurses in his unit won t take it for reasons that are politically motivated, he said.
Dr. Anthony Fauci previously said that he s worried that healthcare workers will decline to get vaccinated and discourage others from doing so.

Officials at Baptist Health Corbin announced Tuesday that the Pfizer COVID–19 vaccine has arrived on site.
The hospital was one of 11 across Kentucky that Gov. Andy Beshear announced would be recipients of the initial shipment as part of the effort to immunize frontline healthcare workers.
The shipment contained 975 doses of the vaccine, which will be offered to the employees, with vaccinations to begin today “No one will be forced to take it,” said Debbie Hardin, Marketing Director at the hospital.
With 1,174 employees at the hospital, Hardin said frontline workers will have priority for the vaccine.

Health care workers around the country rolled up their sleeves for the first COVID-19 shots Monday as hope that an all-out vaccination effort can defeat the coronavirus smacked up against the heartbreaking reality of 300,000 U.S. deaths.
“Relieved,” proclaimed critical care nurse Sandra Lindsay after becoming one of the first to be inoculated at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New York. “I feel like healing is coming.”
With a countdown of “3-2-1,” workers at Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center gave initial injections to applause.
And in Colorado, Gov. Jared Polis personally opened a delivery door to the FedEx driver and signed for a package holding 975 precious frozen doses of vaccine made by Pfizer Inc. and its German partner BioNTech.
