When Kim Pewe was researching and chronicling genealogy on the Find A Grave web site, she noticed that there were requests from people around the world who were searching for information about their ancestors buried in Walsh County cemeteries.

Marlo Ann Gade, 89, of Grand Forks, ND, passed away peacefully June 8, 2021 at Northwood Deaconess Health Center. Marlo Ann Powers was born on November 7th, 1931 in Walhalla, ND to James and Gladys (Moore) Powers. Marlo attended grade and middle school in Walhalla until moving to Fargo with her mother and grandparents in 1945. Marlo graduated from Fargo Central High School and then attended Moorhead State University, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education. She then taught Physical Education at Glenwood, Minnesota public schools before attending the University of North Dakota, where she completed a Master’s degree in physical education in 1957. After earning her Master’s degree, Marlo taught in the Department of Physical Education at UND from 1957 to 1964, initially as an instructor and later as an Assistant Professor. In addition to her teaching duties, Marlo was also involved in coaching women’s golf, softball, and other intramura
