Patience Urged as Hospitals Carry Out This Historic Effort to Vaccinate the First Vermonters Against COVID-19
Vermont Business Magazine The University of Vermont Medical Center is entering its second week of COVID-19 vaccinations and is pleased to begin administering the vaccine to community-based providers. The hospital continues to vaccinate its own patient-facing staff as well as EMS personnel. The process for vaccine distribution was developed by the CDC and Vermont Department of Health and all Vermont hospitals are playing a part in assisting with its implementation.
To administer the vaccine to community health care workers identified in the first phase of the state’s plan, the hospital has created a clinic on the grounds of the Champlain Valley Exposition (CVE) in Essex Junction.

PLATTSBURGH â Stefan Turkula, MD joins the Orthopedic and Sports Medicine practice, at the University of Vermont Health Network-Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital (CVPH) in Plattsburgh.
Dr. Turkula completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, N.J. and a Sports Medicine and Shoulder Fellowship at the University of Minnesota/TRIA Orthopedic Center in Minnesota.
Here, his colleagues are Howard Black, MD; David Christensen, MD; Jesse Hahn, MD; Michael Imobersteg, MD; Pamela Reinhardt, MD; C. Philip Volk, MD; and Brittany Marshall, PA.

PLATTSBURGH â Aubrey Wheeler, MD, a Family Medicine provider, joins the medical staff at the University of Vermont Health Network-Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital (CVPH) in Plattsburgh.
Dr. Wheeler completed her Family Medicine Residency at The Saint Louis School of Medicine at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois.
She is board certified with the American Board of Family Medicine.
The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School graduate said her care philosophy is highly focused on the relationship she has with each patient, working hard to build trust with everyone she sees by providing evidence-based whole-person care without bias or judgment in a caring and respectful manner.

ELIZABETHTOWN â University of Vermont Health Network, Elizabethtown Community Hospital has found its place helping the North Country respond to the COVID-19 pandemic by creating a dedicated unit where post-acute patients can safely recover.
