DURHAM University of New Hampshire Police Chief Paul Dean said Sunday there is no threat to the school community in connection with the search for a suspect in an alleged social media threat that led the University of Maine to alert its campus community.
Maine local, state and federal law enforcement agencies stated Saturday and Sunday they were searching for Afshin Zarechian, 20, of Manchester, New Hampshire.
Social media accounts popular with UNH and UMaine students, but not affiliated with the school, posted information about Zarechian Saturday and Sunday. Dean said UNH police have received three calls.
UMaine s notice stated Zarechian, described as 5 feet 9 inches tall and 150 pounds with dark hair, eyes and complexion, was last seen driving an “older model” green BMW with the New Hampshire license plate “RICCH.”
