My journey to give a stranger more time through living organ donation

My journey to give a stranger more time through living organ donation I thought of my father, who died of cancer when I was a child, and how all he hoped for was a little more time. I was serious about being an organ donor after death so why wouldn t I be serious about it now, at age 24?  Social Sharing After a long, pandemic-interrupted process, I found out I was ineligible. But I hope my story inspires others Posted: Feb 21, 2021 8:00 AM ET | Last Updated: February 21 Silken and her father when she was a child. Over 8,000 Indigenous people now vaccinated against COVID-19 in Northern Ontario

Richardson said the website, called Maad ookiing Mshkiki Sharing Medicine, is an attempt to overcome vaccine hesitancy. Launched on Feb. 4, the website provides information about COVID-19 vaccinations for First Nations, Inuit and Métis people to help them make informed choices. She said the website information is of high quality, scientifically and culturally. The creation of culturally relevant educational materials that allow Indigenous people to make informed choices about the vaccines is critical, she said. The website was developed by the Centre for Wise Practices in Indigenous Health at Women s College Hospital in Toronto, the Indigenous Primary Health Care Council, Anishnawbe Health Toronto, the Indigenous Health Program at University Health Network and Shkaabe Makwa  an Indigenous-focused branch of the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.
