COVID-19: Ontario calculation change results in one-time jump of 2,275 cases

Article content What you need to know, at a glance Ontario reported a record 2,275 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday, with one-time jump attributed to data extraction process changes. New case total includes 711 cases in Toronto, 586 in Peel, 185 in Windsor-Essex and 154 York Region. 20 additional COVID-19 deaths were reported provincewide. There are 921 people hospitalized, including 249 in ICU, 156 of them on ventilators. Ottawa Public Health reported 13 new cases and one new death Tuesday. There have been 9,118 cases confirmed since the pandemic began, and 387 deaths. In Ottawa-area health units, Eastern Ontario saw 11 new cases, five in Kingston, Frontenac and Lennox & Addington, three in Leeds, Grenville & Lanark, and two in Renfrew County.
