Ontario family urges people to take coronavirus seriously after healthy 65-year-old dad dies

Last Updated Tuesday, December 15, 2020 5:52AM EST A devastated Ontario family is pleading with people to take the threat of COVID-19 more seriously after a healthy father-of-two with no known pre-existing health conditions died after contracting the disease. Markham resident Joe Crupi died on Dec. 6 after battling COVID-19 since he was diagnosed in late October. His family believes the 65-year-old contracted the disease during an encounter at work. The family said a few days after testing positive, Crupi’s breathing became laboured and he was taken to Markham Stouffville Hospital for treatment. Before being sent home with antibiotics, he underwent a chest X-ray and received fluids because he was dehydrated.

COVID-19 vaccine arrives at first Bucks County hospital

The 475 employees at Pine Run, the health system-owned nursing home in Doylestown Township will also be included in the first round of vaccine recipients.  Pharmacy chains CVS, Walgreens, and Managed Health Care Associates Inc., are handling vaccinations for long-term care residents through a separate federal program.  Watson did not know when the health system would be receiving its next shipment or how many doses it would be. “Shipment expectations are a mystery,” Watson said.  Jefferson Health s Abington Hospital in Montgomery County received word its shipment was delayed until Friday. In Philadelphia, the Einstein Health Network expected to receive its shipment Tuesday, too.

Canada s first COVID-19 vaccine, Public Health Sudbury and Districts

There are currently nine active cases in the health unit’s service area. Public Health has reported 246 cases since the beginning of the pandemic, with 220 in Greater Sudbury, 13 in the Sudbury district, and 13 in the Manitoulin district. Two people in the region have died after contracting the virus.
