Doctors strike takes toll on UCH patients | Premium Times Nigeria

2 min read Patients seeking medical services at University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, have expressed frustration over the indefinite strike currently being embarked upon by Association of Resident Doctors (ARD). The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the strike entered 19th day on Wednesday. A NAN correspondent, who visited the tertiary hospital on Wednesday, saw the frustration visibly written on the faces of patients seeking medical care at the facility. NAN also reports that the industrial action has affected activities in key sections, such as the ever-busy Accident and Emergency and Out-Patient Department, both of which were unusually quiet. Consultants, nurses and other allied health workers were, however, seen offering services, even as patients experienced unusual delay due to the limited number of doctors on duty.

Isokon Flats - Credit: Savills Agatha Christie s wartime stay at the Isokon flats - with fur coat, hot water bottle, and pillow over her head to drown out the blitz - is explored in a new exhibition. Despite having homes in west London, Oxford and Devon, the famous crime writer and her Sealyham terrier James spent 1941 to 1947 living in a 25 metre square flat in what was advertised as the safest building in London. An exhibition opening on May 22 reveals how she enjoyed a prolific stage of her career, writing novels, stage plays, a memoir and radio play for Queen Mary s 80th birthday - which later became The Mousetrap - while living in Britain s first apartment block made from steel reinforced concrete.
