The new hotspot of Weeke and Fulflood in Winchester A FURTHER 17 patients with coronavirus have died in hospitals across the county. Five of these were recorded at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Winchester hospital alongside Basingstoke and North Hampshire, and Andover Memorial hospitals. Hampshire Hospitals Foundation Trust runs Basingstoke, Andover and Winchester hospitals Positive tests across the district have also risen in the last 24 hours. There have been 49 new cases reported today; yesterday there were 32. This brings the district s total to 4,483 up from 4,434. The number of new cases continues to generally fall across the district except for one area, Winchester West, which covers Weeke and Fulflood and part of Harestock. The number of new cases has risen sharply in recent  days with 41 cases in the seven days to January 31, the equivalent of a rolling rate of 411.4 per 100,000 people, far above the average for England.

Covid: Three more deaths recorded in Winchester district THERE have been a further 32 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the Winchester in the last 24 hours, bringing the district’s total to 4,434. Sadly, a further three people who tested positive for the virus within the last 28 days died in the district. This brings the area’s total to 163. Figures also report that 167 people have died in the district with Covid-19 recorded on their death certificate since the start of the pandemic. The infection rate in Winchester continues to drop, with the district recording 180 cases in the last seven days – the equivalent of 144.2 cases per 100,000 people.

The woman had posted videos on social media of empty corridors in hospitals, claiming there was no pandemic. Dorset Police said it was also carrying out an investigation after an incident at Royal Bournemouth Hospital on Sunday evening.

Dean, from Fareham, was warned by police on Sunday not to attend any hospital unless she has a prior appointment, is a dependent or there is a medical emergency.
