Ultra-high Field MRI Detects Subtle Differences of Brain’s ‘Hippocampus’ in People with Down Syndrome
Using ultra-high field magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to map the brains of people with Down syndrome (DS), researchers from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals and other institutions detected subtle differences in the structure and function of the hippocampus a region of the brain tied to memory and learning.

They will be inducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Louisville High School, according to a news release.
Biery graduated from Louisville High in 1958 and attended the Ohio State University. He graduated from the OSU College of Veterinary Medicine in 1964. He served as the chief of radiology for 20 years and chairman of the department of clinical studies for eight years at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine.
He has published more than 90 research papers and co-authored several radiology textbooks. Today, he is retired professor emeritus of veterinary radiology of the University of Pennsylvania. He has worked with the charity Seeing Eye Inc., which raises and trains dogs for blind people. He has received numerous awards over the years, including the Ohio State University’s Distinguished Veterinary Alumnus Award.
