Bicyclist hit and killed on State Route 163

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A bicyclist was struck by a vehicle and killed on southbound state Route 163 near Balboa Park Wednesday night.
The crash was reported about 9:05 p.m. near Park Avenue and just north of Interstate 5, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Details of what led up to the crash were not immediately available.
The age, gender and name of the victim were not disclosed.

SAN DIEGO
A man who fell while riding a bicycle on a trail in Florida Canyon in Balboa Park Wednesday morning suffered a head injury and had to be extricated by San Diego firefighters, a fire official said.
The man, who was not wearing a helmet, apparently was found by other people riding along the trails near Zoo Place and Park Boulevard shortly before 10 a.m.
The man suffered a major head injury, said San Diego Fire-Rescue Battalion Chief Rick Ballard.
Video by OnScene TV showed nine emergency responders helping to carry the man out of the canyon on a stretcher to a waiting ambulance.
