LVHN hosts COVID-19 vaccinations at Pocono Raceway this Saturday

Lehigh Valley Health Network has announced the first COVID-19 mass vaccination clinic for Monroe County, set to take place this weekend. LVHN, which is holding another mass vaccination event at Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom with 4,000 patients on Wednesday, will host the Monroe drive-through clinic at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. this Saturday, March 20. The network expects to vaccinate 3,000 individuals in the state’s Phase 1A category with the first dose of the Moderna vaccine for free. Appointments for the vaccination session are required, and no one will receive a vaccine without one. “We are proud and humbled at the request to serve as a vaccination site,” Pocono Raceway CEO Nick Igdalsky said. “Our partners at Lehigh Valley Health Network have done an incredible job during the pandemic and are an invaluable asset in our local community. Our staff is ready to support their vaccination efforts.”

Pennsylvania’s COVID-19 percent positivity has plateaued according to the latest report from the Early Warning Monitoring Dashboard, but drops and jumps are still affecting the northeast region of the commonwealth for better or worse. According to the most recent release from the COVID-19 Early Warning Monitoring System Dashboard, PCR percent positivity for the entirety of Pennsylvania for the week of March 5 through March 11 sat at 5.7%, the same rate as the reading for Feb. 26 through March 4. This makes for the first time in months that the percent positivity rating for the Keystone State has sat still, with consistent declines noted during that time frame.
